If someone has just died
Do not wait for a reply from me.
Start with what to do when someone dies in Thailand, which carries the Thai emergency numbers and the embassy numbers in the order you need them. If the person is alive and in hospital, start with what to do when someone is hospitalised in Thailand.
Then contact the embassy of the country the person belonged to. Most run a 24-hour emergency line, and the numbers are on that first page.
What gets a reply
- Corrections. If something on this site is wrong, out of date, or contradicted by what happened to you, tell me. Include the page.
- Anything to do with a purchase. A download that will not open, a link that has expired, a payment problem, a refund question. Include the order number.
- Professional correspondence. Lawyers, translators, consular staff, funeral directors and journalists.
What does not
Your circumstances.
I cannot tell you what to do about your partner, your condo, your bank account, your visa or your family. Not by email, not by phone, and not in person.
Advice applied to one person's facts is what a lawyer does, and I am not one. The time also goes into checking what is published or into answering individual mail, and it cannot go into both.
If you are dealing with something specific, you need a Thai lawyer. A professionally drafted Thai will costs less than most people expect, and the same firm can usually answer the rest.
